“No More” Week

March 6th 2016 Marks the Start of The Joyful Heart Foundation’s “No More” Week.

As stated on their website, “NO MORE is a movement to raise public awareness and engage bystanders around ending domestic violence and sexual assault launched in 2013 by a coalition of leading corporations, advocacy and service organizations. NO MORE is supported by hundreds of domestic violence and sexual assault organizations at the local, state and national levels that are using its signature blue symbol to increase visibility and funding to address these critical issues. Any individual, organization, or corporation that wants to end domestic violence and sexual assault can use the NO MORE symbol to show their commitment to this cause.”

“Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” star and now activist, Marishka Hargitay received letters from fans.  As stated on The Joyful Heart Foundation website, throughout her role as Detective and now Sargent Olivia Benson, Marishka was awakened by the affects of domestic violence and sexual assault and the weight that survivors carry—the weight of shame, pain, fear, darkness, judgment and isolation—and inspired by their courage, which inspired her to established The Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004.

“NO MORE” Week  is a national grassroots activation aimed at making domestic violence and sexual assault awareness and prevention a priority year-round.
