2016 marks the 30th anniversary of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”.       The story of the high school senior who ditches school with his friend Cameron Frye(Alan Ruck) and his’ girlfriend Sloane Peterson(Mia Sara) and lives his mantra of living life to its fullest, as said in the iconic quote: “Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it” has captivated all audiences from 80’s-millennials.

“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” takes place in Chicago, IL.  On weekend of May 20th 2016 – May 22nd 2016, Ferris Fest will be taking place.  Those dates were chosen because that was when the film was released 30 years ago.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Ferris Fest will have attractions such as a replica of Cameron Frye’s father’s car the 1961 Ferarri 250 GT and a replica of Ferris Bueller’s bedroom.  There will also be a bus tour retracing Ferris’ footsteps and even a chance to sit in Wrigley Field in the ACTUAL SEATS where he, Cameron and Sloane sat during the baseball game.

Cindy Pickett and Layman Ward (Ferris’ Parents) are scheduled to appear at Ferris Fest.  Still no word from Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jennifer Grey, Edie McClurg and Ben Stein (“Bueller….. Bueller…. Bueller….”).

There’s also a planned re-staging of the iconic Parade scene with the song “Twist and Shout” and parade float trip.

Tickets are currently on sale and a portion of the proceeds will go to “Stomp out Bullying“.
