“New Findings from the Department of Labor”

It was just reported that there is an increasing  number of Americans with disabilities are hunting for jobs, which new data suggests. 

The unemployment rate for people with disabilities has increased last month to 10.4 percent, a rise from 9.3 percent jobless which was reported the month prior by the U.S. Department of Labor on Friday. 

The economy as a whole added 215,000 jobs in July. The unemployment rate for the general population has remained at 5.3 percent the according to Labor Department. 

The month to month dip in employment amongst people with disabilities. These figures for July which shows an improvement over the same period of time last year. Last years unemployment rate was at 12.1 percent. 

The Feds began to track the unemployment rate amongst people with disabilities since October of 2008 however there isn’t enough data compiled to establish seasonal trends, along with statistics for a specific group that hasn’t been seasonally adjusted to show seasonal trends.  

The data on people with disabilities covers those over the age of 16 who do not live in ininstitutionized setting. The first employment report which was made available in February of 2009. Now, these reports are made available on a monthly basis.
