It was just announced that  Pez Candy will now be getting movie treatment. Envision Media Arts is delevoping an animated film based on the 88 year old pressed chalky tablet shaped candy and we can’t forget the dispensers which has oftened featured iconic pop culture characters which we all grew up with.

Cameron Fay will write the screenplay while Lee Nelson and David Buelow will be producing it for EMA along with Gregg Rossen, Brian Sawyer and Jonathan Hung who brought the project to EMA and will executive produce alongside EMA’s David Tish.

Nelson said in a statement that “Pez candy is beloved by children and adults a like. He also stated Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many.”

EMA most recently completed the drama “Henry Joseph Church” starring Eddie Murphy and Britt Robertson. The studio has also financed and produced five films in the past five years which includes the 2012 Sundance Film Festival “Celeste and Jesse Forever” with Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg.

After this news came out I am not sure what to think about a Pez candy movie. I would think it would be a challenge to think of the perfect concept for the movie plus making sure it is something that will entertain audiences around the world. It should be interesting to see what the concept of the movie will be along with who is going to be involved in the movie.
